I really can't believe I'm back at work already, those days flew by much too quickly! We all really enjoyed our time there, the house is beautiful and Red was a great host. I honestly don't know what could be done to improve anything, unless Red can invent a time machine to make our vacation last a bit longer. His suggestions for restaurants were spot-on, I so wish I could hit the Monkey Pod for one last order of garlic truffle oil fries! Honestly, the only time I was in need of anything was when we were making reservations for activities and I couldn't find a pen - so that's probably my only suggestion, a note pad and some pens next to the brochures/maps or on the kitchen counter. Thank you again for all your help and big thanks to Red for the beautiful house and hospitality. I've already told everyone at the office about the house and will gladly recommend it to anyone I know going to Maui!

We had a wonderful time at your house in Maui for our daughter's wedding. Your hospitality made our stay enjoyable and welcome. We enjoyed meeting Monica and Red. Roger especially enjoyed talking to Red and Noble about the good old days. The house offered everything imaginable for our family and created for us some of the most treasured memories of a lifetime. Roger and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary on that Sunday, in addition to our daughter's wedding a few days later. In response to your question below, I can't think of a thing to improve your house. It is perfect!

We had the most memorable time for our daughters wedding. The house was absolutely perfect with everything we needed. We enjoyed grilling on the lanai, using the hot tub and pool, walks in the neighborhood every morning, and of course the comfortable beds. Thanks for the use of the house. We loved the lanai and all the room we had. The well stocked kitchen was awesome and the view was more than awesome. The only disturbing part was all the early morning phone calls from our family members the morning of the Tsunami! Our favorite place to eat was Marco's Deli and Grill in Kahului - excellent food!

We had the best time ever here in beautiful Maui! Coming from a place in the world where 50 degree temp swings in one day are typical. The consistent 75 here was very appreciated!!! Joey and Travis did a fantastic job of hosting us. We took the convertible to Hana for the day, which was well worth the trip! We loved having a place to call our own for the week, almost felt like home. We will be back for sure!

What a great place for our family to enjoy the beauty of Maui and to congregate for our daughter's wedding. The house was just perfect for the size of our family. The Pineapple Suite was a special benefit which allowed our small grandkids to nap while we enjoyed the lanai, pool and hot tub. Travis and Joey are so helpful!

What a wonderful place to have a family Christmas. The house is fabulous, we loved the huge covered lanai. Joey and Travis were so kind and helpful, they take such good care of the house and the guests. We will miss the beautiful sunsets. Our kids loved the pool. Thanks again for everything; we will return. Some notes: Love the Pineapple Grille in Kapalua - pineapple upside down cake is a must! Maui Zen Spain Lahaina is small but excellent - facials and massages at reasonable prices.

Aloha Red. As blizzards blow at sub-zero temperatures back in Montana we were wondering if we could build a tree house out back here off the Lanai! We love the peace and serenity here away from all the howlies down below. Shawna's parents Charlie and Carol joined us to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Over all the wonderful restaurants in Maui we chose to celebrate right here on the lanai. Eighteen whales were spotted over Wailea while tanning by the pool to highlight that special day. We also had a great time with my cousin Rick and his wife Jackie from Chicago, escorted by none other than Big Red! thanks for the conch shell lesson!

Dear RedsMauiHouse and Joey & Travis: I've spent the last week trying to convince my Mt boy husband to move here with me but to no avail :( I literally dug my heels in the sand at Wailea beach and I'll more than likely cry on the plane tomorrow. We are so thrilled we stayed at RedsMauiHouse - it was more beautiful than we could have imagined. We were thrilled to spend many days on Wailea Beach and found a little snorkel spot there that we thought was better than Molokini. Made a fishing trip north of Lanai and caught dinner! Even had some time to golf Makena. Please don't make me go! We love Maui - we really loved this house. Ahuino (until we meet again) and Mahalo!

Joey and Travis, Reds: This place is Maui's best kept secret! What a sweet spot = lots of room - gorgeous sunsets - loved the outdoor shower - the spacious covered lanai was my absolute favorite place (hammocks to sleep in would be a fantastic addition!). This was our second time in Maui (1st was for 29th Anniversary, we celebrate 35 in October). RedsMauiHouse is by far the best place ever - truly a bit of "Heaven on Earth"! Thank you for an awesome, spacious, well stocked "home away from home." We felt so comfortable and Lord willing, we'll be back someday soon!

The house is a gem. The pictures online do not do it justice. The view alone was worth the price and we really enjoyed spending time on the huge lanai. The house was very well equipped and had everything we needed. It was great having the boogie boards for the kids to use at the beach.

We had the best time ever in Maui!! I would not change a thing about your house or the experience. It felt more like we were at home than on vacation!! Every aspect of our stay was perfect, Joey had some really good tips on where to go and what to do without paying resort type fees which really helped out alot! Our stay at Red's Maui House was absolutely amazing! I can only speak for myself & my family (Ryan & our 2 1/2 year old, Tatum), but we would like to move in. We spent the week discussing job opportunities and the thoughts that we are so envious of Joey & Travis! :)   Your house is gorgeous, the views are incredible, and the website pictures/descriptions are an understatement! We will be coming back and we cannot wait. I know we had one suggestion we thought of - the steps to the hottub are pretty dark at night, so a few more solar lights down there might be really helpful. :)

Sorry for the late response. There is nothing I would have changed about the home. It was truely amazing. There were 8 of us of all different ages and it was great to come back to RedsMauiHouse and spread out, something we could not have done in a hotel. There was something for everybody.We truely made memories that will last a life time. Joey and Travis were great!! Now back to the subzero temperatures.

We have had a wonderful and most enjoyable week in Maui. A week that has gone so quickly. Enjoyed the snorkeling, boogey boarding, swimming and walking along the hotel promenade and some of us attending a luau. The Reds Maui House served us well and seeing the stunning sunsets from the spacious deck was a highlight as well as the great weather. Mahalo to Joey and Red for their help and friendly welcome. Unfortunately, we can believe our trip is over as we came home to a full day of heavy rain here in Oregon.  We had a great time (we spent a second week in the Lahaina area after staying at Red’s) and Travis and Joey took great care of us.  The new furniture is GREAT...big improvement!  We enjoy the house so much because it feels so “homey”.  Of course the view and the pool don’t hurt, either.

Aloha Red,  yes we just got home. I have 76 emails,  Yikes.  Mahalo for providing a wonderful family vacation. The box of chocolates and pineapple on arrival is a very nice Welcome to Maui. We all had a grand time and the boys had a ball.  Hope they weren't too noisy.  We could not hear them except for a couple of times when they were in hot tub but not yelling just talking. We were very pleased with the kitchen, equipped great, very easy to make our meals. We only went out for dinner once. Loved Joey and Travis. They were a wealth of information on what to do and see. We brought home pineapples and Papayas from Mr. Pineapple. Travis looked up the information for me so I could order by phone and P.U. on the way to the airport this am. Worked slick.

  Kristi and Randy found a good place to snorkel, courtesy of Joey,  and my sister even saw some pretty fish just wading in the ocean. The new fridge is great.  The old one went south on Wed, so we used the freezer in the fridge as it wouldn't freeze but did stay cold. Also put some things in Pineapple Suite.

  Could not get over all the changes to the Island of Maui.  Lahaina is no longer the delightful village that we remember visiting and wandering around in the shops.  I am afraid if they aren't careful the same thing will happen to Kihei. 

Again,  MAHALO Red, We appreciate and so does the Good Shepherd Congregation  the fantastic donation you made to our Lobster Fest.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Everything was perfect. Furniture was much more comfortable than last year, and the pool was a lot warmer with the new solar panels. Travis and Joey were great as usual. We loved the groceries that Joey picked up when we arrived. It was a very enjoyable trip. Now I'm off to Greece on Thursday. Wish me luck with the volcano and no travel delays. I'm going with a friend.

We had an absolutely WONDERFUL time. I have to honestly say that it was the house that made our trip. It was very comfortable for the 10 of us, and we spent a lot of time on the lanai and the pool. We also loved the location and the view! The only things that were a little uncomfortable for us were the Murphy Bed and the AC system in the living room.

Everybody had such different sleep schedules that it made it a little hard for those who wanted to stay up late to do so. The ACs in the bedrooms were great, but during the day, the living room got warm, so we just ended up sitting outside instead - which worked out fine for us!

Thanks so much for such a wonderful stay - we hope to book again when we visit Maui next time!! It really was wonderful.

No, I can't believe it's over already. We had such a great time at the house, although we were really busy with the reunion stuff that we barely got to relax there. The kids loved the pool and hot tub. The adults loved the patio and BBQ grill, it was so spacious and convenient. We will definitely think of you in the future when we need a place for all of us to stay. I think we will be having reunions every few years instead of every 10 years, so I'll be in touch!! ;)
I wanted to tell Travis that the downstairs toilet when you sit on it, rocks forward. I think he just finished re-tiling the bathroom floor last week, so he probably didn't know. That wasn't a problem at all though.
I can't think of anything that needed to be improved, actually. It was perfect for us! You guys were so hospitable and kid-friendly!! We will definitely be spreading the word! A few of our local friends were surprised we found a house to rent in Wailea and they wanted your information.

Hi Red and Jami,
Thank you for allowing us to use your beautiful house!! It was absolutely perfect for our family. We all love the lanai, large living area, view, pool and hot tub. We also loved that it was secluded from all the large resorts. Our 9-month old daughter took her very first swim in your pool!! Having all the baby stuff available was great! Travis and Joey were great resources as well! We left a few things for future guests - some straw beach mats, a pack-n-play mattress sheet and a Road to Hana CD guide.

The only thing I thought could be better were the mattresses. We use pillow tops at home so my husband and I notice the difference when we're not sleeping on similar types of mattresses. However, this wouldn't stop us from renting the house again.

Yes we all had a great time in Maui and the house was amazing!! We loved staying there - it was perfect. Everyone raved about the outdoor shower and the view from the lanai every morning was incredible. We had almost every meal out there. The kids loved the pool and spent most of the time swimming, of course. As soon as we got home we wanted to go back. Travis and Joey were great!! In terms of making suggestions, I am sorry I can’t offer any. I've stayed at some real fancy places and Red's house had everything I could ask for. You guys thought of everything, it was like a home away from home.

The only thing I forgot to mention to Travis and Joey is that the tack strip in the entry area carpet and the Red bedroom entry has tacks sticking up and needs attention.

Thank you so much and I hope that we can stay at Reds sometime in the near future, we couldn't have asked for better accommodations! LOL

Hi Jami,
Our stay was great! There were a lot of information booklets @ the house which we found very helpful, and we left the ones we picked up, as well. We ended up having to stay another night, as our connecting flights out of Dallas were cancelled due to a foot of snow in TX, so we got a motel room close by the airport. It sure made us appreciate the house even more!! Joey was kind enough to get us a meat thermometer for the pork tenderloin that we grilled one night, and both Joey & Travis were very helpful and friendly with the information and hints we needed about places to go and things to do.

Bruce & I stayed in the Pineapple Suite, which is very nice. The other 3 couples were in the downstairs bedrooms. Randy (one of our guys) noticed the crack in the toilet seat and by the time 6 people used it, it broke all the way through. He looked for the proverbial duct tape, but could only find electricians tape. We didn’t want to bother Joey & Travis to have to replace it while we were there. I completely forgot to tell Travis about it (probably because I wasn’t using that bathroom). Let me know if you would like us to help pay for the replacement, and I will send a check.

Red’s is a wonderful place, and so convenient to everything—especially the beaches, so we would definitely ask to stay again the next time we come to Maui.

No I can't believe it's already come and gone. We had a great time and it’s tough to be back in cold, grey rainy Portland. Sigh....

The house was fine, but there are a few things I would mention. The kitchen was great, and super well stocked. There wasn't one thing we needed that wasn't there, and we did 2 huge dinners for 14 there! The size of the house was ideal for our group, and the cottage was perfect for my brother and sister in law and their toddler who was up really early. It was nice they had their own space. And the view was stupendous! Travis and Joey were really nice and helpful! There were so many beach towels to use and the cooler - we really appreciated those a lot!

The couple of things I would mention to improve the quality of the stay are that the bed in the “Red Room” was a little too hard. The king sized one was better, but you could use some new pillows. Also, the washer and dryer worked great (I loved the little songs it sang to let you know it was done - so much better than the annoying buzz!) but for some reason the clothes and towels would come out of the dryer a little damp sometimes for us. And the temperature of the pool could have been a few degrees higher, even though I know it is winter time. We were able to get Travis to turn up the hot tub, but I guess the solar heating of the pool wouldn't allow it to get warmer. I would urge Red to put a heater or a solar blanket in the pool for the winter.

And lastly, the coffee table in the living room was not small children user friendly, so I suggest something should to be done with it. All in all we had a really nice time and spent a lot of fun hours in the house.

We are back to our reality now – lots of snow and colder temperatures. We very much enjoyed our stay at your vacation home. It was excellent for our family to relax and enjoy the house and the view. Travis and Joey were wonderful hosts being available when needed but gave us lots of privacy. We made good use of the pool, hot tub, outdoor shower, and the beautiful lanai. The weather was perfect for our stay and we were very busy with snorkeling, scuba diving, and surfing and it was nice to have a quiet, comfortable, and roomy place to crash after a full day of activity. Thanks again and we would love to return for another vacation sometime.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful! The house was truly a home away from home and we couldn't have asked for more. Joey and Travis were wonderful, with a special thanks to Travis for letting us borrow his speakers for our iPod, that made all the difference for us. That is the only thing I could think of as a potential improvement; updating the stereo with a model that includes an aux input - but Travis took care of us in that department.

The view was absolutely stunning and the house was close to our favorite beaches. Secret beach was definitely the highlight, and I loved heading home at sunset to enjoy the house and night swims. The kitchen was well equipped and we had dinner on the Lanai every night of our trip thanks to the awesome grill. I am already missing the mangos like crazy!

A friend of ours who lives in Maui had suggested some beach-front resorts in Kihei, but was blown away by the house when she stopped by for a visit at Red's and confirmed that we had made the right choice. My only regret is that we didn't stay longer - 5 nights was not enough!

A huge thank you from our crew of friends, we had the most wonderful time. We look forward to returning and staying at Red's Maui House again!

I meant to drop you a note as soon as we arrived back home. Here are a couple of the pictures from my daughter's wedding. One is with her new husband, and one with her little sister. The wedding was so beautiful.

Thank you for allowing us to stay in your island home. There wasn't anything that could have made our trip more perfect. The house is ideal for a family vacation and is equipped with all the things you would ever need (or forget) on your trip. There was even a sewing kit in the kitchen for a little emergency mending on a swimsuit.

The time our family spent together at the house was priceless. Our son Daniel received a few days leave from the Army and was able to join us for his sister's wedding. I think the kids were in the pool more than the beach!

Travis was there when we needed him and stopped by every now and then to make sure everything was ok or offer helpful information on the island. He also brought us fresh mangos from the tree outside the kitchen window. What a treat!

I must say the pictures of the house online don't do it justice and nothing can prepare you for the unique sounds of island birds in the morning. The cows mooing in the hills nearby made us feel like we were at home. The view of the ocean and surrounding countryside were spectacular. I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else should we travel to Maui again.

Everything was wonderful there. We really liked eating outside and enjoying the view & breeze. The accomodations were just as we envisioned, and everyone was very comfortable. Travis and Joey were great - they gave us alot of good information and loaned us an ice chest for the beach. We even ran into a small water leak and Travis got on it right away. The only thing that I wanted to mention (in case Travis didn't already take care of it) is that the latch on the murphy bed came off (the bolt was stripped or too short) - we tucked the sheets in when we folded it up so it wouldn't fall down.

Sorry I didn't get back to you until today. I had to go to Chicago to baby sit my granddaughter. The house was wonderful and met all our needs. Joey and Travis were wonderful. We hardly knew they were there but if we needed them, they were right there with help. We loved the pool and the outside shower was great! It was great to have soap provided and toilet paper (there was enough for the whole week) and paper towels. Those little things were wonderful because buying groceries over there was expensive for all 7 of us. Thanks again! Our only recommendation is for a larger air conditioner on the main floor of the house.

We are back home in Tulsa and still trying to re-adjust to the real world.
Our stay at Reds Maui House was spectacular. We loved the sense of outdoor living the house provides. The view from the lanai, the pool and hot tub and, somewhat surprisingly, the outdoor shower were all a huge hit.
Joey and Travis were great: very friendly and helpful when needed but stealthy when privacy was desired. By the way you were right that the stereo did not have any kind of auxiliary input to allow playing an Ipod/MP3 through the system’s speakers.
I assume that the $300 security deposit will just be refunded to my Mastercard account shortly. We will definitely recommend Reds to all who come to us requesting our "Maui picks".

We already miss being in Maui.

There were a couple of things that could have made the stay a bet more enjoyable: An outdoor fan with lighting over the table on the lanai and a better placed TV in the Queen bedroom. We also appreciated the wonderful assistance of both Travis and Joey. They were there when we needed them, but kept to themselves and allowed us to have the vacation we wanted in privacy. We even managed to get another boogie board from someone on the beach giving theirs away, so now you have two at the house!

I am so glad that I found your site on the internet, Red's Maui House was such a wonderful "home away from home." Our family used the lanai for many family dinners, everyone loved it, I am so glad that I have been able to do this vacation for my family, it is one that we won't forget. Putting all of the accidents, bumps and bruises, 2 cases of strep throat and surfing injuries aside, we all had a blast!! My boys are thinking about coming back again, next time without the kids, so that they can have an adult experience. Red and Monika are wonderful hosts, we had some great conversations and a few good laughs with them, even sang a few songs! My husband and I went to Molokai, it is not the place for us, we enjoyed the quaint atmosphere but we left early and went to Oahu for the next 2 days, we were curious about the island and are glad we went but I think that 2 or 3 days are all you need when planning a trip to Molokai!

The pool and hot tub were a nice addition and were great to relax the sore muscles. Air conditioning throughout, onsite laundry, flat screen TV, and outdoor grill were bonuses. I doubt you can get any of those amenities at a rented condo...

We enjoyed our stay on Maui. The house was in a perfect location, close to great beaches and shopping. It was plenty big enough for us. It was a special time for us on Maui; our son and his girfriend stayed with us, he deployed to Iraq a few days after returning home. Our 4 year old twins loved the pool and actualy learned to snorkel in it before we took them out into the ocean. They were in it everyday after the beach.
Michael kept the pool and the grounds super clean. He is such a huge bonus to the house. The girls still talk about him and blowing the conche shell at sunset. He is such a nice guy; we couldn't have asked for a better person to be living in the ohana.
Thank you Jami for making the whole process of renting the house so easy, being so available to answer questions and the quick refund of our deposit.
All in all, it was a great vacation.

Thank you refunding the security deposit so quickly. We enjoyed our stay in Maui and were sorry to see it come to an end. We stayed very busy touring the island and enjoying the beach time. Overall, we enjoyed the time at the house. It provided us with plenty of room especially with 3 teenagers. The DSL and paper product issues were only minor inconveniences. Hopefully, Michael was not too disappointed that we did not use the pool or the Jacuzzi. We have both at home and the allure of the beach was too strong, especially for the kids.

Sadly, our vacation is over. We had an amazing, fantastic, beautiful week in Maui at Red's house. The location was ideal. The house was perfectly suited for our family reunion and the pool and hot tub was an incredible bonus. Michael was a great host, very helpful and quite interesting to talk too. The view from the lanai is inspiring! We will all remember it for the rest of our lives.
Really, we liked everything! We shopped at the local Safeway - quite a fancy grocery store! - and cooked almost all our meals in the lovely kitchen. And all 9 of us ate on the lanai for dinner. My husband grilled some great meals - we had all the tools and utensils we needed. We really appreciated the boogie boards, cooler, beach chairs and beach umbrella. Used that alot. We didn't need the air conditioning all that much. Not during the day, just sleeping at night for some. The boys played the xbox Star Wars game and that was plenty of game time. The plumeria tree was in bloom - great background for this year's Christmas Card. I could talk for hours about our week. It was that fabulous.
Jami, I also want to thank you for how nice and easy it was to work with you. You made the rental so easy and you were always available for questions.

They were so last minute and it did not even cross my mind to let you know since the web site that we first found you at stated the house accommodated ten people. We really appreciated how much thought and care Red has put in the home there and we could tell how much he loves it.
As I told Red it felt like we were in a tree house; so peaceful and beautiful. The pool and jacuzzi were an added plus. Tell Red we will definitely recommend it to our friends and families and we hope to come there again in the future. The only thing I would recommend is that he think about adding a place where the people sleeping in the Murphy bed could keep their things.
The kids nic-named the gecko (the one without the tail) stumpy; he visited us each night by the side door window. You might also want to add a guest book for people to sign expressing their thoughts on the home and sharing their experiences. Both Michael and Red gave us some good insider tips on what to see in Maui and that advise was a real pleasure.

     Thanks for your email and the chance to stay at your great place.  The article downstairs about how the house was built was fascinating!  We enjoyed our time at your place very much and pictured coming back with our 3 sons next time (although being alone was delightful).  We appreciated the little extras (hair dryer provided, oil in the cupboard, beach chairs, towels, etc) and your location was close to everything.  The lanai is the best and we spent time just sitting and watching the ocean, which was so relaxing.  There is really nothing significant that is needed to enhance comfort or enjoyment at your Maui house.  Everything is ideal. I'll keep your information nearby and hope we will find ourselves back on Maui and back at Red 's Maui House again soon.

By the way, friends of ours from our home town were also on Maui at the time we were there. They stopped by to pick us up, and when they saw our spacious living arrangements they were quite envious. Then we saw their time share unit in Kananapali and we confirmed secretly that we made the best choice by far. Your home is apeaceful, roomy, modern, place with knockout views - a far cry from a time share.
